Dr. Neaman is the Chief Clinical Officer at DASC and has specialized in the treatment of anxiety disorders in adults for over ten years. She has presented at national conferences on the topics of social anxiety and ERP, and has been featured on podcasts and local news regarding anxiety and evidence based treatment. Dr. Neaman is also a board member of the National Social Anxiety Center and a Diplomate of the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies.
Kerry Curran, LCSW, A-CBT is the Director of DBT and Group Services at DASC, and also works extensively with adults experiencing anxiety based disorders. She is a board member of OCD Midwest and has conducted workshops on ERP, both at a national conference as well as training clinicians in private practice and community settings. Ms. Curran is also a Diplomate of the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies.
This presentation will be a thorough introduction to ERP, the most widely empirically supported treatment for Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and other anxiety based disorders. Participants will learn about the anxiety cycle, how to provide a rationale for this treatment to clients, how to design and conduct exposures, and how to debrief after exposures are completed. Dr. Neaman and Ms. Curran will also provide case examples to enhance learning around creating exposure hierarchies or “to do lists,” common barriers to treatment, cultural considerations, and how to help clients maintain their progress. Role play demonstrations and experiential learning will allow participants to practice and receive feedback.
